Saint Mary's College All-Century Team Top-25 Number 12 Mike Wadsworth (1953-56)

Moraga, CA - The 2007-08 season will mark the 100th year in the history of men's basketball at Saint Mary's College. To recognize the 100 years of basketball, Saint Mary's will release the top-25 players of the last century. Saint Mary's counted down players 25 through 17 on the nine days counting down to the opening game of the year and then will announce the top 16 players at each home game through out the year.

Mike Wadsworth (1953-56)

Mike Wadsworth garners number 12 on the Saint Mary's All-Century team. The Berkeley native prepped at Saint Mary's High School where he played for former Gael player and coach Bob Hagler, before coming to Saint Mary's College in 1952. Wadsworth played three years for the Gaels (1953-56) and was twice named to the All-West Coast Athletic Conference team in 1955 and 1956.

More than 50 years ago, Mike "Wallet" Wadsworth recorded a career-high 24 rebounds in a game against UC Davis on December 11, 1953, in his first season with the Gaels. The 24-rebound game still stands as the Saint Mary's single-game record. During his senior season, Wadsworth etched his name in another SMC single-game record list when he scored 37 points against Pacific on February 14, 1956. His 37-point performance ranked second when he graduated and is currently the sixth best single game scoring performance in school history.

At Saint Mary's, Wadsworth played in 75 games in three years and in those games he scored a total of 1,013 points, which ranks 21st all-time at SMC. He pulled down 644 rebounds to end his career as the all-time leader, but has fallen to 11th at the present time. He finished his career averaging 13.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Players 16-through-1 will be released at each home game during the season, with No. 11 being announced at halftime of the game between SMC and Seton Hall on December 1. The best player in the history of the program will be named at the Gaels' final home game of the season on February 25 when SMC hosts San Diego at 7 p.m.
