Cross Country Ends Off-Season on High Note

Belmont, CA- The Saint Mary's men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up its season Saturday morning with eighth place finishes at the West Coast Conference Championships from Crystal Springs Park. Sophomore Clare Schwallie paced the women while junior Sean Hanley led the men.

Despite falling before the first mile-marker, Hanley was able to gather himself and lead the men with a time of 29:21. The next three Gael finishers put on their uniform for the last time on Saturday as James Bolger, Travis Biziorek and Casey Chadd crossed the line in times of 29:26, 29:52 and 30:44, respectively.

Sophomore Peter Mathieu put in a solid performance, scoring for the Gaels with a time of 31:05. Sophomore Alex Nabors followed with a time of 31:49. Freshman Eric Villegas rounded out the SMC harriers with a time of 33:54.

On the women's side, Schwallie completed her first championship race in a time of 20:51. Senior Jamee Thomson concluded her career as a Gael with a time of 21:13. Sophomore Karri Hagedorn finished with a 21:21.
 

 

Junior Deanna Price was clocked at a 21:39 while junior Claudia Aguilera finished with a 21:59. Sophomore Amanda Kimmey finished with a 22:23 and freshman Tina Vincent rounded out the Gaels with a 23:57.

Saint Mary's will officially wrap up its season in the end of the year banquet which will be held in the middle of November.
