San Francisco, CA - Five members of the Saint Mary's cross country team participated in the Gator Preview, hosted by San Francisco State in the Cox Stadium on Saturday afternoon. All five runners competed in the 3,000 meter race, with four out of five runners finishing in the top-10.

Junior Mario Mendoza placed first in the men's 3,000 meter, recording an impressive time of 8:42. Only three other participants in the race posted times of 9:00 or better. Nick Shea finished 10th in the race at the 9:11 mark, while Erik Villegas finished with a time of 9:54.

On the women's side Karrie Hagedorn and Tess Granneman each ran in the women's 3,000 meter race. Hagedorn had not run in a track meet since graduating high school, but did not perform as though she had taken four years off, placing fourth overall with a time of 10:27. Granneman also placed in the top-10, finishing with a time of 10:37, good enough for sixth place.

The Gaels will return to action sporadically throughout the spring, as they will participate in track meets throughout the Bay Area.
