Cross Country Ends Off-Season on High Note

Sunnyvale, CA- The Gaels men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Bronco Invitational this morning as the final tune-up before the West Coast Championships. The women were led by senior Karrie Hagedorn her time of 18:27 in the women's 5k course. The men were led by junior Nick Shea with his time of 26:26 in the men's 8k.

Lead runner for the Gaels was Hagedorn with a time of 18:27. Hagedorn has been a key runner for the women's team this year, posting top marks in every race she has competed in. Tess Grannemann came in second with a time of 19:00, setting a personal best for the season. Freshman Maddie Dengler crossed the line with a time of 21:08. Placing fourth for the Gaels was Jade Lewis with a time of 21:29. Coming in fifth for the for the Gaels with a time of 22:26 was Rosie Kovack.

The men were led by Shea's time of 26:26, junior Mario Mendoza placed second for the Gaels with a time of 26:40. Following suit was freshman Mark Blucher with a time of 26:46. David Stiles (27:09) and Daniel Reyes (28:37) followed close behind.

With this weekend behind them, both teams get two weeks to prepare before the West Coast Conference Championships. The conference championships will be held on Saturday, October 27th, at Crystal Springs, CA.
