High School: Prepped at Deer Valley High School in Antioch, CA where he earned four letters in baseball, two in football and three in soccer...garnered first-team all-league honors three years and first-team All-Contra Costa Times...finished 9-2 with three saves...added 70 Ks and a 1.33 ERA on top of hitting .370 with seven doubles...as a junior he compiled a 1.29 ERA and averaged 9.37 strikeouts per outing...hit .330 with one home run and 26 RBI...was also a football and soccer all-league selection five times...was also recruited by LMU, Santa Clara, UNLV and San Jose State.
