San Jose, CA - The Saint Mary's baseball team dropped their non-conference game to San Jose State 8-5 on Tuesday night in San Jose, CA. With the loss the Gaels drop to 12-19 overall, while San Jose State improved to 19-12-1.

The Gaels fell behind 2-0, after the Spartans scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. But Saint Mary's answered with two runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

After the Spartans tied the game 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth, the Gaels allowed three runs in the bottom of the seventh, taking an 8-5 lead.

Overall Sam Carter finished 1-for-3 with three RBI, including double, Preston Young hit a solo home run and Adam Thompson went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.

Jordan Simo started the game for the Gaels and pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs while allowing three hits. Allan Lobban picked up the loss in relief and Justin Sloan pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

As a team the Gaels had five hits, including Carter, Young, Thompson, Mike Sansoe and J.P. Musgrove.

The Gaels return to West Coast Conference action on Friday, April 15 when they travel to San Francisco to take on the Dons at 3 p.m. The two teams will also play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17.
