Moraga, CA- The Saint Mary's baseball team rallied from a 6-2 deficit to even the score in the eighth inning at 6-6 but the game was called due to darkness and will be concluded tomorrow at Municpal Stadium in San Jose. The game will start in the top of the ninth with no outs and San Jose State at the plate. First pitch of the ninth frame is slated for 1 p.m.

Down 6-2 going into the bottom of the sixth, the Gaels stormed back to even the score. SMC scored one in the bottom half of the frame and then plated two in the seventh and one more in the eighth.

Saint Mary's sophomore Joel Staples drove in the game-tying run on a base-hit up the middle that scored senior Eric Cattoni. Cattoni started the inning with a double up the middle.

In the seventh inning, Saint Mary's junior catcher Ian Gordon drilled a long single off the left-center field wall to bring in freshman Anthony Aliotti with the bases loaded.

Saint Mary's junior hurler Alex Jensen threw 3.1 innings of relief and allowed one run on four hits with a strikeout.

Staples is batting 3-for-5 on the day with three RBIs. Freshman Randy Wells is batting 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Cattoni has added two hits and two runs.

After the conclusion of game one of the series, game two will promptly begin from Municipal Stadium in San Jose. Saint Mary's freshman Brandon Berl is slated to start versus Josh Amberson.
