Moraga, CA - Freshman point guard Patrick Mills was named a Mid-Major Second Team All-American by CollegeHoops.net. Mills helped the Gaels post a 25-7 overall record this season, while leading the team in scoring, assists and steals in his first season in the program.

Mills started all 32 games, and was the first freshman at Saint Mary's to make the starting line-up in his first game since Daniel Kickert in 2002. Mills led the team in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game, and his 472 total points set a school freshman record for points in a season, topping Kickert's previous record of 390 points during the 2002-03 campaign.

Mills scored a career-high 37 points in a 99-87 win over then No. 11 ranked Oregon, putting the Gaels and himself on the college basketball scene. After the win over the Ducks, SMC received votes in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches and the Associated Press polls. He scored in double figures in 25 games, eclipsed the 20-point mark nine times, including a SMC record 24 points in the NCAA Tournament against Miami, and scored over 30 points once.

He finished the season with 111 total assists to average 3.4 assists per game, and he had 57 steals to average 1.8 per outing. He had a career-high eight assists in an 89-67 win over East Tennessee State and had a career-high six steals in an 87-55 win over Loyola Marymount. Mills led the team in scoring 13 times, assists 16 times, and steals 17 times.

In addition to his selection to the CollegeHoops.net Mid Major All-America Team, Mills was also named the West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year, was an All-WCC First Team honoree, was named the WCC Player of the Month for November, and was the WCC's Player of the Week three times.
