Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's junior guard Todd Golden has been named to the United States squad in the Inaugural Australia International Maccabi Games to be held in Sydney, Australia beginning on July 2. Golden is currently practicing with the team in Southern California.

The Maccabi team consists of the United States' premiere Jewish collegiate and professional athletes, and is coached by La Salle University assistant Harris Adler. The team features Golden, Scott Greenman (Princeton), Jeff Horowitz (UNC-Wilmington), Ben Jacobson (Tennessee Tech) and Seth Hauben, who played professionally in Denmark last season.

Head of US Delegation Robert Spivak commented, "The Inaugural Maccabi Australia International Games will allow Todd Golden to have yet another opportunity, not only with playing basketball but with understanding his culture that he will carry with him for the rest of his life."

On Golden's contribution to the squad Adler said, "He is an incredible asset to the team not only with his ability to shoot the basketball and play both guard positions, but he possesses good character and strong leadership abilities that represent the team well."

The basketball squad is one of 12 teams that will compete for the United States in the Olympic-style games. Golden averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 assists as a sophomore last season for the Gaels and shot 40.0% from behind the arc.
