Bangkok, Thailand - Saint Mary's men's basketball players, redshirt junior guard Carlin Hughes and redshirt junior forward Lucas Walker finish competition at the 2007 Universiade Games with two wins. The Australian squad finished the tournament with a 3-3 overall record.

The Aussie squad faced Chinese Tapei in their second to last game of the tournament. Hughes scored a game-high 26 points, shooting 8-of-10 from inside the arc, to lead Australia to a 106-66 win. He also contributed five rebounds and two assists. Walker added seven points, shooting 3-of-4 from the field, while also adding four rebounds.

Hughes and Walker Australian team concluded competition facing the Czech Republic for the second time this tournament. The Aussies made up for the prior loss, outscoring the Czech Republic 63-54 to close the tournament for the Australians. Hughes maintained his consistency, scoring 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Throughout the Universiade Games, Hughes played at a high-level for the tournament, leading the team in scoring against Angola, Chinese Tapei, and Kazakhstan. Hughes ended the competition averaging 17 points, 3.6 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. The guard finished the tournament shooting 70 percent from inside the arc (31-of-44).

Walker finished the tournament averaging 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He rounded out the competition shooting 45 percent from the field (9-of-20).
