Norman, OK - Saint Mary's senior golfer Mike McRae was named a Ping All-America Honorable Mention selection by the Golf Coaches Association of America. With his All-America selection, McRae becomes the first SMC golfer to earn national recognition for his play on the golf course.

McRae finished his senior season with a 72.5 stroke average and finished the season ranked 112 by Golfstat.com. During his senior season, McRae played in a school record 39 rounds and posted a team-leading stroke average of 72.5 following the school's first ever appearance in the NCAA Championships.

In 13 tournaments, McRae posted eight top-10 finishes, which included six finishes in the top five. He had a season-low round of 65, in the first round of the Alister Mackinzie Invitational, when he tied a school record with a tournament score of 205 (-8).

During the seven tournaments that SMC played during the spring schedule, McRae finished in the top-10 in six tournaments and had five top-5s and four second place finishes. His best finish came at the 2008 NCAA West Regional at the Gold Mountain Golf Complex when he posted a second place finish, shooting 5-under par, in a field of 141 players. He also had three straight runner-up finishes at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, The Western Intercollegiate, and the Colorado-Stevinson Ranch Invite.

This season, McRae was voted as a First Team All-West Coast Conference selection for the third time in his career. He was also the WCC Player of the Month for March. McRae's second place finish at the Western Intercollegiate helped the Gaels post their only tournament title of the season.
