Moraga, CA - Gonzaga's Grant Lindberg scored the games only goal to help the Bulldogs post a 1-0 win over the Saint Mary's men's soccer team in a West Coast Conference game on Friday afternoon from Saint Mary's Stadium. With the loss, Saint Mary's falls to 4-3-0 overall and 0-1 in WCC play. Gonzaga improves to 6-2-1 on the season and 1-0-1 on conference action.

After a scoreless first half of action, Gonzaga got a goal at the 59:23 mark that would be the difference in the contest. Off a Tim Muravez's cross from the left sideline found its way through the Saint Mary's defense where Lundberg made a one-touch to redirect a shot past SMC goalkeeper Brian Mason. Lundberg battled a Gael defender, collected the bouncing ball, and pushed a soft shot that barely crossed the goal line for the game's deciding goal.

In an evenly contested game, Saint Mary's outshot the Bulldogs 10-6 overall, but could not get a shot past Vito Higgins, who recorded his third shutout of the season. SMC had a couple good scoring opportunities, but Higgins was up to the task, making key saves when he needed them. In the first half, he made a point blank save on a Michael Lawler shot from 18 yards out, and in the second half he made a leaping save on a bending shot by SMC's Justin Kim.

Saint Mary's goalkeeper Brian Mason made one save in the game, that coming in the first half.

Saint Mary's will return to action on Sunday when the Gaels host the Portland Pilots in a West Coast Conference game. The game will kick-off at 2 p.m. from Saint Mary's Stadium in Moraga.
