Results

Santa Clara, CA - The No. 59 Saint Mary's Gaels were unable to upset No. 14 Pepperdine in the West Coast Conference Championships, falling to the Waves 4-0. The match marked the Gaels' first appearance in the championships, as they defeated No. 58 San Diego in the second round.

Saint Mary's was unable to find their rhythm at the No. 1 and 3 positions in doubles, dropping both matches 8-1. At the two spot, Achim Christner and Marek Dvorak battled the Waves' Bassam Biedas and Rikus de Villiers, but were unable to finish, abandoning the match down 7-4.

In singles Pepperdine took care of business at the one, two, and three positions, earning two set victories to clinch the title. At the one position Joel Kusnierz was not able to repeat his earlier win over No. 9 Begemann, dropping the match 6-3, 6-3.

Junior Andrea Zannoni was the only Gael that ended ahead in his match, defeating Rikus de Villiers in the first set, 7-6, and abandoning the second at three apiece.

The Gaels finished the season with a 16-7 overall record.
