5/14/08 2008 Men's Tennis Recap Moraga, CA - The 2007-08 men's tennis team compiled their best season in program history, as Head Coach Michael Wayman helped propel the Gaels into the national tennis scene for the first time in the school history. The Gaels brought the program to new heights, earning their highest ranking ever, No. 47 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. With a 16-7 overall record, and with every loss suffered coming at the hands of ranked opponents, it was not a surprise that this team had the potential to do something special.
San Bruno, CA - The No. 51 Saint Mary's men's tennis team earned multiple West Coast Conference honors for their performances this year, including head coach Michael Wayman's WCC Co-Coach of the Year Honor. The award marks Wayman's second consecutive coach of the year honor, and third in his career. Other Gaels to be awarded a spot on a All-WCC team include, Joel Kusnierz, Lucas Tirelli, Marek Dvorak, and Achim Christner.
Santa Clara, CA - The No. 59 Saint Mary's Gaels were unable to upset No. 14 Pepperdine in the West Coast Conference Championships, falling to the Waves 4-0. The match marked the Gaels' first appearance in the championships, as they defeated No. 58 San Diego in the second round.
