Sacramento, CA - In the Sacramento State Invitational, the Saint Mary's women's rowing team excecuted its race plan and opened the spring season with a first, two seconds and a third place finishes. The lightweight fours finished first, while the two varsity eight boats posted second place finishes. The varsity four boat rowed well, and finished third in their race.

The women's lightweight four posted a first place finish in its race, but the results from that race have not been posted. The varsity eight boat took the water and posted a second place finish and was two seconds off the pace of Sacramento State, The Gaels posted a time of 7:03.4 in the 2,000-meter race, and finished seven seconds ahead of third place Santa Clara.

The second varsity eight boat had a second place finish as well, pulling to a time of 7:20.0, which was five seconds faster than the Santa Clara boat. Sacramento State finished first in the second varsity eight race with a time of 7:04.7.

In varsity four competition, Saint Mary's finished the 2K-race in a time of 8:24.9, which was good for a third place finish. The Gaels finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of fourth place Santa Clara. Sacramento State finished first at 7:56.6 and Humboldt State was second with a time of 8:20.8.

Varsity Eight: Coxswain Marrah Galvin, stroke Johanna Timmer, Sierra Timmer, Sandra Pichelli, Jackie Lindo, Jennifer Tyndall, Michelle Grima, Jamie Sullivan, and Miranda Ripili.
 

 

Second Varsity Eight: Coxswain Kate Shalvoy, stroke Linzey Simonson, Jennifer Morrison, Taylor Ballan, Elyssa Roselle, Whitney Medved, Kristine Myhre, Kyla Tom, and Ariele Elia.

Varsity Four: Coxswain Kate Shalvoy, stroke Whitney Medved, Elyssa Roselle, Michelle Burns, and Kristine Myhre.

Varsity Lightweight Four: Coxswain Marrah Galvin, Kyla Tom, Ariele Elia, Valerie Vermazen, and Jennifer Morrison.
