Palo Alto, CA - In the final tune-up before next week's West Coast Conference Championships, the Saint Mary's women's rowing team competed in a dual race against California. The only boat competing for the Gaels was the varsity eight, as the Gaels posted a four second win over the third varsity eight boat for the Bears.

On a cool and sunny Saturday morning, the Saint Mary's women's varsity eight boat of coxswain Marrah Galvin, and rowers Sierra Timmer, Johanna Timmer, Jacqui Lindo, Sandra Pichelli, Laura Kocourek, Jennifer Tyndall, Miranda Ripoli, and Kyla Tom completed the 2,000-meter race in a time of 6:56.26. The Gaels four-second win over the Bears, whom crossed the finish line in a time of 7:00.41.

Saint Mary's will return to action next week in the WCC Championships and the WIRA Regatta. The WCC Championships will be contested on Friday, May 2, with the first of three races beginning at 10 a.m. from Lake Natoma in Sacramento, CA. The WIRA's will be contested on Saturday and Sunday, also at Lake Natoma.
