Moraga, CA - Johanna Timmer, a freshman on the Saint Mary's women's rowing team, is one of 21 rowers from across the country to be selected to participate in the 2005 Women's National Team Freshman Camp. Timmer will join 24 freshmen, which include three coxswains, at the camp that will be coached by University of Wisconsin head coach Bebe Bryans. The camp will be held at the University of Wisconsin from June 18-24.

"This is a great opportunity for Johanna to gain more competitive rowing experience." quoted head coach Pasha Spencer. The goal of the camp is to expose athletes to the National Team. Student-Athletes will row in singles to eights and learn some technical and physiological basics.

For Saint Mary's, Timmer rowed in the Gaels' varsity eight boat the entire year. Timmer also competed in a number of varsity four events during the 2005-06 season. The Gaels posted a third place finish in the West Coast Conference Championships, marking the highest finish for the Gaels in the 10 years of the WCC Championships.
