Entering her second year as assistant coach at Saint Mary's is Sydney Chute. Chute was named a fulltime assistant coach prior to the 2006 season. In 2005 Chute worked with the setters on the court. In Chute's first season, setter Mandy Bible became second all-time in the Saint Mary's record books for assists.

Chute was also key to guiding Bible to her second straight All-WCC First Team honors. Bible averaged 12.53 assists, 2.09 digs and 1.19 blocks per game for the Gaels.

Chute, a 2002 graduate from the University of Oregon, was Rob Browning's second hire at Saint Mary's.

Chute coached the women's club team at Oregon in 2004. Chute has coached the 16 Silver's Webfoot Juniors Volleyball team, North Eugene High School junior varsity team and the men's club volleyball team at Oregon for two years.

Prior to coaching, Chute was the setter for the Ducks from 1999-2002 and was a Fab 50 recruit out of high school in Santa Rosa, CA. Chute will also be working on her Master's Degree at Saint Mary's College.
