Moraga, CA - Hugh McCutcheon, head coach of the USA Men's 2008 Olympic Volleyball team, will address the Saint Mary's women's volleyball team and attendees at the annual banquet on Friday, February 22 at 5:15 pm at the Lafayette Park Hotel.

St. Mary's head coach Rob Browning and McCutcheon worked together at Brigham Young University when the BYU men's team won its first NCAA National Championship in 1999. Browning and McCutcheon then had the opportunity to work together again in Colorado Springs and across the globe with the USA Men's National Team. They were assistant coaches with the 2004 USA Men's Olympic team in Athens, Greece, where the team finished 4th.

"Michelle and I count Hugh among our closest friends. Hugh and I share a lot of fond memories from our time together at BYU and with the USA men's team. We have worked and laughed together for over a decade now. I'm excited that Hugh is taking time out of his busy schedule to be with us at our banquet."

McCutcheon has asked Browning to be the USA men's team leader at this year's summer Olympics in Beijing.

McCutcheon, a native of Christchurch, New Zealand, played on the New Zealand junior and senior national teams from 1988-90 before coming to the United States to play at BYU. He was also a member of New Zealand's national team in 1996 and represented his country on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in 1997.

After receiving his bachelor's degree in physical education from BYU in 1993, McCutcheon played professionally for two years in Finland and Japan before returning to BYU to complete his master's degree in exercise science in 1998. In 1999, McCutcheon received an MBA from BYU's Marriott School of Management.

McCutcheon married former U.S. Women's National Team player Elisabeth "Wiz" Bachman on Dec. 9, 2006 in which Browning was a groomsman.
