Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's College has accepted the resignation of Jon Stevenson as the head women's volleyball coach at Saint Mary's, effective Feb. 17, 2005. The resignation from Stevenson came in a letter, submitted to the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports, Carl R. Clapp, on Thursday morning. Stevenson did not disclose his future plans.

"Our focus is the welfare of our student-athletes and the continued success of the women's volleyball program," Clapp said. "We're committed to bringing a head coach to Saint Mary's who can sustain the success we've enjoyed this last two seasons, in reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2004."

Stevenson met with the women's volleyball team at 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning to inform the student-athletes of his resignation.

Saint Mary's will begin an immediate national search for a new head women's volleyball coach.
